Can you repair the side or rear glass on a car, truck or SUV?

Yes, on a few models; some are listed below. Most side and rear glass is safety tempered. When struck hard enough, it will simply shatter. Starting in approximately 2004, some models have front and rear side laminated glass, like a windshield. Mercedes has also produced a few models with the rear glass being laminated. They can chip and they will crack out like a windshield; the rules of repair are the same as a windshield. At this time, they are extremely expensive to replace - we hear $700 and up. An easy way to tell if you have laminated side glass is to check the markings, it will either show laminated or tempered. If you do have damage, it will remain basically one piece (laminated) or shatter (tempered). The list below will be updated as we find more models with laminated side glass.
